KitchenAid Professional 600-Empire Red

User 1: I am actually going to compare this mixer with the 5 Qt mixer I had (Artisan series). So here are my observations (First the bad)…

*It uses 50% more electricity than the Artisan and also makes more noise. However, in spite of this higher power consumption and noise, I haven’t been able to get it to do more than my old Artisan with respect to the size of dough I can mix at a time.

*The Artisan’s implements are dishwasher-safe but those for the Pro 600 aren’t.

Now to the good about it…

*It has a superior dough hook.

*It has a soft start feature.

*It comes with a larger bowl.

*You have clearer differences in speed.

If you don’t have money to spare, I don’t think that the Pro 600 is a massive improvement over the Artisan series. Therefore, in my opinion, I’d encourage you to get one of those Artisan series. The difference in price is much but the difference in performance and features isn’t.

User 2: I nearly didn’t buy this mixer because of the bad-mouthing I saw online. However, I am glad I did as it has exceeded my expectations and so gets a five star rating from me. Here are my observations…

*This machine is a bit louder than my small mixer but that should be expected from something more powerful — At least, that was my thinking until I started working on some dough and discovered that it isn’t that loud once it has something to work on.

*You will get the best use from this mixer if you stick to the recommendations of the manufacturers. My personal observation is that you shouldn’t do beyond 8 cups per batch unless you are using all purpose flour.

User 3: I took my time to do due diligence before committing several hundred dollars in a stand mixer and I am glad I ended up with this. It’s important that you also take the time to do your research and ensure you are patient and diligent enough to read through the manual before you start using it — I believe this will save you a lot of headaches.

One mistake you must NOT make is go over the top with gluten flour since you’ve heard that this is a powerful mixer. The truth is that it really is very powerful but has its limitation (It’s NOT an industrial machine for all its power).

If you want a mixer you can count on always, get this one. I know there’s the temptation to go for cheaper models, don’t make this mistake as you will discover when you are dealing with heavier loads that the compromise wasn’t worth it. The Pro 600 is built to last and that’s something I look for my kitchen appliances. This mixer is certainly recommended by me.

User 1: It was quite an “expense” for us when we got it but, as we’ve used it, we have found it to be worth every cent we spent on it. For this I give it a five star rating — It has changed the way I cook. It does very well at anything you give it but I think it really shines especially when you have to bake. Take it or NOT, you will start baking a lot more if you buy this mixer — That’s a fact you will soon discover.

One thing I love about this mixer is that it does NOT require any scrapping of the sides with a spatula while mixing. This means you can do other things while it’s doing the mixing. It also makes kneading dough (Even stiff ones) an easy task.

There are a lot of other things you’d definitely find good use for. I just mentioned a couple of those that I find to really stand out. Now let’s see the cons…

This mixer is really heavy. So make sure you get a good space for it — You definitely won’t be moving it around. Also, be careful about the tighten your bowl to the base. Make it loose when you have to deal with stiff dough or you’d have a hard time removing it from the base when you’re done.

This mixer isn’t cheap but you won’t complain if you buy it as it is a very good investment even if you are just beginner. One very good thing about it is that it will open a whole new world for you with respect to things you can experiment on.

User 2: This one gets a five star rating. I have used an old stand-mixer and a hand mixer. This one is simply massively superior to those. Tasks that used to take me forever now take just a short time. On the cons side, even though I rate it this highly, I see that dough sticks to the side of the bowl meaning you’ll need to scrape from time to time. Another issue is that you don’t have a larger bowl.

But in spite of these little concerns, I am in love with this mixer.

User 3: I give this mixer a five star rating. However, I must point out a silly mistake that most folks make while buying that eventually lead to complaints and bad-mouthing great products…

Make sure you buy the right mixer. Some people buy very small mixers and then expect them to handle tasks meant for industrial mixers. That will get you disappointed. If you want my advice (I have bought 14 different KitchenAid mixers over time as gifts and for myself and should know a thing or two about them): Check the motor size before you buy. If you know you have heavy-duty needs, get a mixer that has a heavy-duty motor. It’s easy to get this information if you only spend enough time reading through product description and specs.

I only have one regret now: I didn’t have one when I started over 4 decades ago. It certainly would have made my life a lot easier. I do recommend it.

KitchenAid Mixer Attachment for Stand Mixers

User 1: I have come to love KitchenAid appliances as they have really lived up to the hype. These attachments help you get a lot more from your mixer. From my personal experience, here are my observations…

On the positive side, you can grind beef, chicken or turkey just to your taste thanks to the coarse and fine blades that come with this attachment pack. Making waffled carrot slices is easy thanks to the slicer.

On the negative side, I think it was really dumb for KitchenAid NOT to include the sausage nozzle in this pack. The slicer is a bit clunky and I definitely prefer a food processor or a chef’s knife to it.

If you bear in mind the issues I have raised and have a way of getting around them, then this will definitely make your prep work a lot easier. Yes, I recommend it provided you take note of its downsides.

User 2: This is definitely a nice addition to my kitchen’s army of appliances. It does a good work of grinding meat. The motor is just so powerful that it can deal with almost anything you throw at it. I don’t like the fact that you’d have keep track of a lot of bits and pieces, though, as they make clean up a little more difficult. I would also have preferred a larger hopper for the grinder for the attachment.

That said, it does handle the tough prep work that my food processor’s motor can’t deal with. But it’s NOT going to replace my food processor. It’s a good compliment really.

User 3: I consider it to be a poor accessory to such an excellent mixer. I think going for a separate all-metal meat grinder is the way to go. Here are my reasons…

It’s difficult to get uniform cuts. Food gets stuck between the shredder and the housing. The meat grinder is very poorly designed — The plastic molding on metal wasn’t a very good idea in my opinion as it cracks just after a relatively short time.

User 4: I consider this a must-have for every kitchen and so give it a five star rating. Work that would normally take me hours with a food processor now gets done in just no time at all — Making cherry jam with the fruit and vegetable strainer; Zucchini and cucumber relish.

User 5: I have used this attachment for over ten years now and I can tell you what it does well and what it doesn’t. If you want to grind meat, you won’t have any form of problems with this. Making sauces from garden produce can be a little tricky even if it does this well too.

If you do a lot of canning, you would find this a worthy companion especially in the canning season. However, I have issues with its height since I am NOT a very tall person. Some tasks are NOT so straightforward like making sauces from garden produce but they work well and have done so over the course of a good number of years.

User 1: This is definitely the most used of all my attachments. This makes grinding beef and lamb an easy job. It is very easy to assemble and also very easy to clean. I have consistently used the dishwasher for everything and have NOT had any problem doing so.

It is important to note that while this is a hardworker, it is NOT an industrial appliance so make sure you follow the instructions for cutting up stuff into smaller bits before shoving down the feed tube — It’s in your own interest to follow the instructions if you want to get the best from this appliance.

The knife and plates are not stainless (which wouldn’t hold an edge), so you do have to dry them off right after washing, but I put everything, including the wooden stomper, right in the dishwasher, and after more than a year nothing has had a problem.

User 2: I give a five star rating to this workhorse of an attachment. I have really put this thing through a lot (Sometimes using it to prepare food items for as many as 200 people) and it has NOT disappointed even once — It doesn’t matter how easy or tough the preparation is, it simply rolls through with relative ease. It’s easy to clean and the plastic is dishwasher safe.

It is easy to put together and does a good job of grinding anything you want it to. It doesn’t matter if your meat is marbled or lean; cooked or raw; venison or chicken — It does them all very well. If you’ve used a hand-crank grinder, spare yourself the late nights and get this. This is a very good purchase and I know I will still find it useful for many years to come.

User 3: Of all the attachments I have, this is definitely the most used — And it’s really very useful considering I always have to grind meats or else NOT everyone in my household will be able to enjoy the meal. This unit takes away all the hard work and even makes me try a lot of things that would have been impossible otherwise.

One thing that makes a lot of appliances a pain to use is clean up. This one doesn’t have that problem. It’s easy to disassemble. It’s also dishwasher-safe.You’d have to hand-wash the cutting blades, though. May be this is just me as I think that using the dishwasher would degrade the finish on the high strength steel used for the blades. For me this isn’t any hassle as it takes just a minute to do.

You have a durable unit that doesn’t show any signs of being problematic in any way. I am sure I will use it for many years to come.

User 1: I give this mixer a five star rating. It’s turned out to be my favorite appliance. Here are things I have found out about it as I used it…

*It weighs in at about 25 pounds which means it is quite heavy and you won’t have problems with it bouncing around while mixing heavy stuff.

*It is very powerful and easily handles enough dough for 2 loaves of bread without any fuss.

*It has done its job very well within the time I have used it.

This is definitely a very good mixer and comes highly recommended by me.

User 2: I am pleasantly surprised at how much this unit does even though it comes at such a low price. If you are looking for a tough workhorse that doesn’t make a hell of noise (this one works quietly) and does everything it’s supposed to do very well, this is it.

My only observation is that you would be better off washing you attachments by hand and NOT in the dishwasher like I did once and had one of them turned. Despite this minor issue, I am very happy with this purchase. I am making plans for some accessories that go with it. I must say that this is definitely a good appliance to spend your money on. It is definitely worth every dime I paid for it and more.

User 3: If you know anyone who does a lot of baking and has used this then you can ask them and they’ll tell you that they simply can’t imagine life without this work horse. It does its job so well every time and you can count on it.

Yes, it is quite heavy and you won’t have an easy time if you plan to be moving it around. But for me, that’s NOT a problem — I simply can’t go with those flimsy (and light) mixers out there. The other thing I am happy about it is that it is quite easy to clean.

User 4: This gets a five star rating for me because, even though it’s quite inexpensive, it’s very effective and does its job very well. To say the truth, it takes the hard work from baking. In fact it makes it almost too easy to be true. It’s a good thing that it’s easy to clean and fit in my dishwasher.

I have only had a small issue with it so far: I have NOT yet found a way of raising the top. This makes the attachments scratch the bottom unless there is a decent amount of mix inside. So you may have to take note of this while using it.

But all in all, I find this to be a very useful appliance and it looks solid enough to last for a long time.
